Miraculous Signs or Nonsense?
May 21st, 2025 / Sheyvah Rex
For Jews demand signs (attesting miracles), and Greeks pursue [worldly] wisdom and philosophy, 23 but we preach Christ crucified, [a message which is] to Jews a stumbling block [that provokes their opposition], and to Gentiles foolishness [just utter nonsense], 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks (Gentiles), Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.- 1 Cor. 1:23-24 (AMP)
“I’ll believe in God when he shows up to give me a miracle,” the hunched over man with hard eyes and blotchy skin called out to me.
“Ha!” a brunette woman yelled. “Lady, that is ridiculous! You must not believe in science.”
I had just finished preaching the good news of Jesus Christ crucified, buried and raised to life to bring us to God. The crowd was here for a free meal. I didn’t know how to answer, so I said, “God bless you all. Let’s pray and thank God for the delicious meal we are about to eat.”
Some people demand that God do the miraculous before they believe. Some think that God dying is utter nonsense. We know that Christ is the power and the wisdom of God.
Don’t be afraid to tell people the truth about Jesus. Some will be willing to listen. Some won’t. Ask God for the courage and the words to say. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit will give you the right words in the moment. (Luke 12:12) Trust Him.
Dear Lord, Thank you that you are wise, and you use people like me to share your love and truth. Please give me boldness and the words to say to my friends and family.
Throughout this day: Are you praying for the people in your life and family who are not following Jesus? Persevere in prayer for them. The Holy Spirit wants to partner with you to reach them. You are Jesus in the flesh for them.
